Funding formula

HUGS in Brighton: FUNDING FORMULA FOR DISPLACED UKRAINIANS

Helping Ukrainians Get Settled in Brighton endeavors to support hosts and displaced Ukrainians residing in our geographic region. This formula was created to provide clarity for hosts and Ukrainians for budgeting and planning purposes. The funding will be provided as long as funds allow. Our Funding Formula is calculated from the following criteria:

Groceries will be provided, through gift cards and funds on the following schedule:

For up to 6 months on a per week basis:

$80 per adult

$60 per teen (13 and above)

$50 per child (newborn to 12 years)

This formula was created to reflect current inflation rates and will be adjusted annually for inflation.

For up to an additional 6 months:

We will entertain special situations by application only for a reduced continual support. Each application will be considered and voted on by the board of directors.

Further grocery funding will be on a case-by-case basis. It is also understood that not all scenarios will fit this funding model and will be adjusted as appropriate.

Transportation:

Volunteer drivers will provide transportation for school, work, medical appointments, training, ESL classes, and extracurricular activities. These volunteer drivers can be provided with gas cards or funding to cover gas, when needed, up to $0.20/km for exceptional distances that could cause a financial burden for the volunteers. We recognize that most will donate their driving.

Cell Phones: basic cell phones and plans will be provided for adults and teens 16 years and above for up to the first year.

Medications, Dental Care and Immigration Medicals:

To the extent that government plans do not pay, HUGS will endeavour to cover necessary prescription medications for up to 6 months. Dental Care will also be covered for a period of up to 6 months. All immigration medicals will be covered if scheduled with a recognized discount provider.

School Supplies, Clothing and Miscellaneous Items

School supplies will be provided for all school age children. Clothing and miscellaneous personal items on approval.
